Media Contact: Local Company To Offer National Physician Hotline Oklahoma City, OK — January 20, 2003 — A new Oklahoma City company, Doctor On Call, LLC, has signed an exclusive agreement to market a national 24-hour physician hotline. Doctor On Call, LLC, will be based in Oklahoma City and will be the exclusive provider for the service. Developed in 1995, this national physician network has quietly provided service to approximately 20,000 members. The success of the hotline, combined with the public's growing need for immediate access to physicians, prompted the national rollout. The service is available 24 hours a day and seven days a week, including holidays. There currently are 240 board certified physicians on the network. Dr. Brent Blue of Wyoming, who developed the network, personally interviews and selects the board certified physicians for Doctor On Call. Doctor On Call members pay an annual fee, which entitles them to unlimited calls and unlimited minutes. Members are issued a personal PIN number and utilize a toll-free number for immediate access to a board certified physician. "The Centers for Disease Control has documented that one reason for rising health care costs is the increased use of emergency rooms for non-emergencies. This puts a huge financial burden on employers, employees, health care systems and insurance companies," Doctor On Call chief executive officer Karl Nigg said. "The American Medical Association has reported that as many as 70 percent of all doctor's office visits are informational only, and it's estimated that $300 billion of health care costs are unnecessary. Doctor On Call can give consumers the access to health information they want and need — and the peace of mind that comes with it — at a fraction of the cost and in a fraction of the time." Oklahoma City advertising executive Mike McAuliffe has partnered with Nigg in Doctor On Call, LLC, with Nigg serving as the managing partner of the new company. Nigg is an experienced healthcare executive who played a key role in the turnaround of Urocor, Inc., in 2001. Along with his management skills, Nigg also is an attorney and pharmacist, holding a B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of New Mexico and a Juris Doctorate from Santa Clara University.
