A pap smear is recommended every 3 years for women between ages 21 to 65. Frequency should be greater for women who are at increased risk of HPV infection, such as women who are sexually active of have had a previous pap smear with abnormal results. The test can detect changes in your cervical cells that suggest cancer may develop in the future. Detecting abnormal cells early with a pap smear is your first step in halting the possible development of cervical cancer.

How it’s done:

A Pap smear involves collecting cells from your cervix — the lower, narrow end of your uterus that's at the top of your vagina

Your doctor will gently insert an instrument called a speculum into your vagina. The speculum holds the walls of your vagina apart so that your doctor can easily see your cervix. Inserting the speculum may cause a sensation of pressure in your pelvic area.

Infection spreads by the consumption of contaminated food or water, and it’s crucial to treat it early, otherwise it can prove to be dangerous, even fatal.

The Typhoid vaccine is usually an inactivated type of vaccine which triggers the immune system to produce antibodies to fight the Salmonella typhi bacteria if it enters the body. It is mandatory for people who work in the F&B industry and handle food, as per the Malaysian Food Act 1983 and Food Hygiene Regulation 2009. It is recommended for travelers who are traveling to countries where typhoid is common. The vaccine needs to be taken once every two years for people at high risk of exposure to the bacteria.

An ECG can detect abnormalities in the heart, its rhythm and electrical activity. It is used to examine symptoms such as chest discomfort, palpitations (quickened heart rate), dizziness, and shortness of breath that could indicate a heart condition like myocardial infarction (heart attack), arrhythmias, coronary heart disease, or even congenital heart problems.

An ECG involves electrodes, which are little, adhesive sensors that are attached to your arms, legs, and chest throughout the exam. The ECG recording machine is attached to them through cables. It just takes a few minutes to do and requires no extra preparation.

Hepatitis A is a very contagious, acute liver infection caused by the hepatitis A virus, which causes liver inflammation and impairs its function. The virus can spread through direct contact with infected individuals or through contaminated food or drinks. Common symptoms can include jaundice, fever, pain, loss of appetite and diarrhea.

Hepatitis B is an infection that leads to inflammation of the liver, caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV). It can cause both acute and chronic illness. Severe disease can develop into a long-term, chronic infection, leading to significant, even life-threatening health complications such as cirrhosis or liver cancer. HBV is transferred by contact with an infected person's bodily fluids. Fatigue, a loss of appetite, stomach pain, nausea, and jaundice are all typical symptoms.

Both hepatitis A & B can be prevented with vaccination that can provide up to 95% to 100% protection. The combined vaccine works by stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies and help fight both hepatitis A and B viruses, preventing serious infection. It is recommended to be taken by all adults, and children - as per the national vaccination schedule.
